Yes. Naïf contains no animal-derived ingredients, and as of 2026 we're officially Vegan Certified.

Our products contain 0% parabens.

None of our products contain SLES, so that holds across the range. Our shampoo uses SCS (Sodium Coco Sulfate), a mild coconut-derived cleanser, rather than SLS/SLES. Our newer baby 2.0 line is fully sulfate-free.

Our products contain 0% silicones, 0% mineral oils, 0% microplastics and no phenoxyethanol, and no drying alcohol. (Some contain fatty alcohols, which are gentle, non-drying ingredients despite the name.)

Both. Many products use a mild synthetic perfume made without the EU-listed skin allergens, and we have a line without added perfume (baby oil, zinc cream, aftersun, baby balm, lotion wipes and water wipes). We say "without added perfume" rather than "perfume-free," because natural raw ingredients can carry a light scent of their own.

Yes, all our products are dermatologically tested, and they're suitable for sensitive skin.

Naïf is used in several hospitals, maternity wards and childcare settings.

We're not a certified-organic brand, and we don't claim to be 100% natural. We do use ingredients of natural origin, and we make deliberate choices (like a safe synthetic perfume) for safety and stability. Our range is Vegan Certified and some products are AllergyCertified, but we're not COSMOS or NATRUE certified.

Our products are developed in the Netherlands. Most are made in the Netherlands, and some in Germany or France, so we don't claim "made in the Netherlands" across the whole range.

Yes, the whole range is free from microplastics.

Our products aren't halal or kosher certified.

Our products are cruelty-free: animal testing for cosmetics is banned in the EU, and we wouldn't do it anyway. We don't sell in markets that require animal testing.

Our products are formulated in balance with the skin's natural pH.

Yes, you can use our range with peace of mind, which is exactly why mild, trustworthy ingredients matter when skin is more sensitive.

Our products don't contain essential oils or retinol, two things people are often told to avoid during pregnancy. If you're avoiding a specific ingredient, check the INCI list on the product page or ask us.

Our mineral sunscreens use non-nano zinc oxide. Under EU rules any nano-sized ingredient must be labelled "[nano]" in the ingredient list, so you can always check the pack. Non-nano means the larger particles sit on top of the skin rather than being absorbed.

We don't use the term "reef-safe," because it isn't legally defined and no sunscreen is completely without impact. Our sun care is free from oxybenzone and octinoxate, the chemical filters most often linked to coral reef damage (and now banned in places like Hawaii). Our Kids sunscreen lotion is also reef-tested, and we develop our sun care with the ocean in mind.

We don't use oxybenzone or octinoxate in our sunscreen. Our baby sunscreen combines two filters: a chemical filter (BEMT) and a mineral filter (zinc oxide). Our kids sunscreen uses a combination of three chemical filters (BEMT, EHT and DHHB) and is reef-tested.

No. We don't use titanium dioxide; our mineral protection is based on zinc oxide. The full filter list is on the pack and product page.

For babies under 6 months, the general advice is to keep them out of direct sun and use shade and clothing rather than relying on sunscreen. From 6 months you can start using a baby-suitable SPF; patch-test a small area first. If in doubt, check with your GP or midwife.

For little ones we recommend a high factor: our Baby & Kids sunscreen is SPF50. Reapply every two hours, and after swimming or towelling off, and combine with shade, a hat, sunglasses and UV clothing.

All our products are made for sensitive skin. Mineral UV filters sit on top of the skin, which generally means a lower chance of irritation, and our chemical filters are chosen to be mild. Where our products contain perfume (we have 0% added perfume options too), it's made without the EU-listed skin allergens. All our products are dermatologically tested, and while our sun products aren't AllergyCertified, they're made to be gentle. In doubt? As with any product on reactive skin, patch-test first.

Apply generously (most people use too little) and don't forget ears, neck, feet and hairline. Reapply at least every two hours, and always after swimming, sweating or towelling.

Sunscreen can stain clothing. To prevent stains, let it absorb for a couple of minutes before dressing, and wash any marks out promptly. Our mineral sunscreen can leave a white cast on the skin (that's normal), but we've worked to keep it minimal.

Yes, all our sun products are water-resistant. To keep full protection, reapply after you've been in the water, swimming or sweating. ("Waterproof" isn't an allowed claim, because no sunscreen truly is.)

Check the product pages for current sizes. As a general rule, liquids under 100 ml are allowed in hand luggage, but always check your airline's rules before you fly.

Yes. Check the "period after opening" symbol on the pack (e.g. 12M = 12 months after opening). Don't use sunscreen past its date, as the protection degrades.

Yes. A mineral sunscreen that sits on top of the skin is a popular choice during pregnancy, and helps limit the pigment spots ("pregnancy mask") that hormones can cause.

Our plastic-free wipes are made from Lyocell. Never flush any wipe, including ours; they don't break down fast enough and cause blockages. If you compost at home you can compost unused wipes.

Our billendoekjes (wipes) are without added perfume and alcohol-free, made for sensitive baby skin.

We don't make "non-comedogenic" or "won't clog pores" claims. Our products are formulated to be mild; if you're prone to clogged pores, check the ingredient list on the product page or patch-test first.

It's free from SLS and SLES (we use the milder SCS, a coconut-derived cleanser) and suits every hair type, natural and coloured.

Yes. We don't use silicones in any of our formulas, so our shampoo and conditioner are silicone-free (we'd say "0% silicones").

Absolutely. The range works for the whole family, whatever your skin or hair type.

Naïf baby products are developed for delicate newborn skin. Keep the umbilical cord stump clean and dry and avoid applying products to it until it has healed; ask your midwife or GP if unsure.

Our products are made with mild ingredients, but they're for external use, not for eating. Keep them out of reach and contact a doctor or poison line if a larger amount is swallowed.

A little baby or bath oil can help soften cradle cap before gently combing it out. Avoid picking, and check with your GP if the skin looks inflamed.

Many parents use our milder products without added perfume on sensitive, dry skin, and some are AllergyCertified. Eczema is a skin condition, so for diagnosed eczema we'd follow your doctor's advice. Every skin is different, so patch-test first.

Premature skin is especially fragile. Please check with your pediatrician or neonatal team before using any skincare.
